Clinical Research Coordinator
Matthew W Veerkamp
I am a Clinical Research Coordinator at Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) in the Orthopaedic department. I have been at CCHMC for over 10 years. working in genetics research for my first 5 years and now in Orthopaedics. I graduated from the University of Cincinnati with a degree focusing on research in Psychology. While in undergraduate I assisted in research studies at CCHMC with the Cystic Fibrosis population. I found that I enjoyed the experience and decided to continue my research career with CCHMC. My research in genetics focused on the genetic markers responsible for opioid metabolization and how we might be able to better prescribe dosage based on personal genetic factors. Since my transition to Orthopaedics I have worked with Dr. Parikh on a multitude of research projects looking at knee and shoulder injuries. In my free time I enjoy backpacking, cooking, and playing guitar.

Education
